Hadith scholars did not only preserve authentic reports — they also recorded weak, denounced and fabricated ones, so that people would recognise them and not attribute them to the Prophet ﷺ. These are the reports in this library that scholars graded below acceptance.

Reports scholars judged to be invented and falsely attributed to the Prophet ﷺ — often by a liar in the chain. They may not be quoted as hadith except to warn against them.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: No one should sail on the sea except the one who is going to perform hajj or umrah, or the one who is fighting in Allah's path for under the sea there is a fire, and under the fire there is a sea

Abu al-Darda’ said:if anyone says seven times morning and evening; “Allah sufficeth me: there is no god but He; on him is my trust- he, the Lord of the Throne (of glory) Supreme”, Allah will be sufficient for him against anything which grieves him, whether he is true or false in (repeating) them

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed Ash-Shaitan has a sense of taste, for which he licks, so beware of him. So whoever spends the night with [a smell] on his hand and something happens to him, then let him not blame anyone but himself." [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Gharib from this route.
