Describes how Allah creates a human from clay, a drop, a clot and flesh, then death and resurrection. He also made the heavens, sent rain, grew palms, grapes and olives, and gave livestock and ships.

Says the stubborn would dismiss even a piece of the sky falling as clouds, so leave them to their Day. Tells the Prophet ﷺ to be patient, being in Allah's sight, and glorify Him morning and night.

Describes the companions of the right among thornless lote trees, layered fruit, long shade and flowing water, on raised couches with companions of equal age. They come from both earlier and later peoples.
The Companions of the Left
Describes the companions of the left in scorching wind, boiling water and black smoke. They lived in luxury, persisted in great sin and denied the resurrection, so they will eat from the tree of zaqqum.
Who Makes the Seed, Rain and Fire?
Asks people who creates the human from a drop, who makes crops grow, who sends down drinking water and who produces the tree for fire. Allah could ruin each, so they should be grateful and glorify Him.
When the Soul Reaches the Throat
Describes the moment the soul reaches the throat, when no one can bring it back. Then the dying person meets rest if brought near, peace if of the right, or Hellfire if a denier.

Zihar and the Woman Who Pleaded to Allah
Tells that Allah heard a woman pleading about her husband. Declaring a wife to be like one's mother is false speech, and gives the penalty: freeing a slave, fasting two months, or feeding sixty poor people.
Allah Knows Every Secret Conversation
Reminds that Allah is with every private gathering. Warns those who whisper about sin and disobeying the Messenger, and tells believers to talk privately only about righteousness and piety.
The Party of Shaytan and the Party of Allah
Condemns those who befriend people Allah is angry with and hide behind false oaths. True believers do not love those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even relatives, and Allah is pleased with them.
People of the Scripture Expelled From Their Homes
Tells how Allah expelled disbelievers among the People of the Scripture from their homes despite their fortresses, casting terror into their hearts, because they opposed Allah and His Messenger.
False Promises of the Hypocrites

A Day Fifty Thousand Years Long
A questioner asks about a punishment no one can prevent, coming on a Day of fifty thousand years. The criminal will wish to ransom himself with his family, but the Fire calls those who turned away and hoarded wealth.
Qualities of Those Who Pray
Tells that humans are anxious, impatient in hardship and stingy in good times, except those who pray. Lists their qualities: charity, belief in the Judgment, chastity, keeping trusts, honest testimony, and guarding prayer.
Disbelievers Crowding Around the Prophet
Questions disbelievers who crowd around the Prophet ﷺ yet hope for Paradise. Allah can replace them with better people, so leave them until the Day they rush from their graves humbled.
Masjids Are for Allah Alone
Declares that masjids belong to Allah, so call on no one else. The Prophet ﷺ only conveys Allah's messages, has no power to harm or guide, and only Allah knows the unseen.
Patience With the Deniers and Firawn's Example

Swears by the Day of Resurrection that Allah can reassemble even man's fingertips. When the moon darkens and the sun and moon are joined, man will look for escape and be a witness against himself.
Radiant Faces and the Moment of Death
Warns that people love this life and neglect the Hereafter. Describes radiant faces looking at their Lord and contorted faces on that Day, and the moment the soul reaches the collarbones at death.
Is Man Left Without Purpose
Condemns the one who neither believed nor prayed but walked proudly. Asks if man thinks he will be left neglected, recalling his creation from a drop, and asks if Allah cannot give life to the dead.
Feeding the Needy for Allah's Sake
Tells that man was created to be tested and shown the way, grateful or not. The righteous keep vows and feed the needy, orphans, and captives only for Allah, so He protects and rewards them.
Rewards of the Righteous in Paradise
Describes Paradise: shaded couches without heat or cold, low-hanging fruit, silver cups, a drink mixed with ginger from the spring Salsabil, green silk garments, and a pure drink from their Lord.

Promises the righteous shade, springs, and fruits as a reward. Warns the deniers, who enjoy briefly and refuse to bow in prayer, and asks what message they will believe after this.
The Great News and Signs Around Us
Answers those arguing about the great news by pointing to Allah's gifts: the earth as a resting place, mountains like stakes, sleep, night and day, the sun, and rain that grows crops and gardens.
The Appointed Day and the Waiting Hell
Describes the Day of Judgment when the Horn is blown, the sky opens, and mountains vanish. Hell waits for transgressors who denied Allah's verses, with only scalding water and foul fluid to drink.

Is Your Creation Harder Than the Heaven
Asks whether humans are harder to create than the heaven, which Allah built and raised. He darkened its night, spread the earth, brought out water and pasture, and set the mountains firm.
The Great Overwhelming Event and the Hour
On the Day of the great calamity, those who preferred this world go to Hellfire, and those who feared their Lord and restrained desires go to Paradise. Only Allah knows when the Hour comes.
Man's Creation and the Food He Eats
Criticizes man's disbelief. He was created from a drop, his path eased, then he dies and will be raised. Tells him to look at his food: rain, grain, grapes, olives, dates, and fruit.
The Day a Man Flees His Family
Describes the Day of the deafening Blast when a person flees from his brother, parents, wife, and children. Some faces will shine with joy, while the faces of the disbelievers will be covered in dust.
When the Sun Is Wrapped Up
Lists what happens at the end: the sun darkens, stars fall, seas blaze, and the girl buried alive is asked why she was killed. Then every soul will know what it has brought.
When the Sky Breaks Apart

Tells that the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyyun. They will sit on couches with radiant faces, drinking sealed wine ending in musk and mixed from Tasnim, so let people compete for this.
Those Who Laughed at the Believers
Tells how criminals laughed at believers, winked at them, and called them lost. On that Day, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers from their couches.
The Record in the Right Hand or Behind the Back
Describes the sky splitting and the earth casting out what it holds. Every person works hard toward meeting Allah; one given his record in the right hand is judged easily, the other burns in the Blaze.
Why Do They Not Believe
Swears by the twilight, night, and full moon that people pass through stage after stage. Asks why they do not believe or prostrate when the Qur'an is recited, and promises lasting reward to righteous believers.
The People of the Trench
Tells of the people of the trench, who sat by a blazing fire witnessing what they did to the believers, resenting them only for believing in Allah. Those who torture believers without repenting face Hell, while believers receive gardens.
Every Soul Has a Guardian
Swears by the night star that every soul has a protector. Man should see what he was created from; Allah can bring him back when secrets are exposed. The Qur'an is decisive, not a joke.
Glorify Your Lord and Purify Yourself
Commands glorifying the Most High, who created and guided. Promises the Prophet ﷺ he will not forget except what Allah wills, praises one who purifies himself and prays, and reminds that the Hereafter is better, as in Ibrahim's and Musa's scriptures.
Two Kinds of Faces on the Overwhelming Day
Describes the Overwhelming Day: some faces are exhausted, burning in Fire with a boiling spring and thorny food, while others are content in a lofty garden with flowing springs, couches, and carpets.
Look at the Camels, Sky, and Mountains
Asks people to look at how camels are created, the sky raised, the mountains set, and the earth spread. Tells the Prophet ﷺ to remind, since he is not their controller, and their return is to Allah.
Regret on That Day and the Soul at Rest
When the earth is crushed and the angels come in rows, man will wish he had sent good ahead. The reassured soul is invited to return to its Lord, pleased and pleasing, and enter Paradise.
Giving Leads to Ease
Contrasts the one who gives, fears Allah, and believes in the best reward, who is eased toward ease, with the stingy denier. The Fire is avoided by one who gives only for Allah's face.
Your Lord Has Not Left You
Assures the Prophet ﷺ that his Lord has not left him and will give him until he is satisfied. Reminds him that Allah sheltered, guided, and enriched him, so be kind to orphans and askers.
Created in the Best Form
Swears by the fig, olive, Mount Sinai, and the secure city that man was created in the best form, then lowered, except believers who do good. Allah is the most just of judges.
The Clear Proof and the Best of Creatures
Tells that the People of the Scripture and polytheists needed a clear proof, a Messenger reciting pure pages. They were commanded to worship Allah sincerely, pray, and give zakah; believers who do good are the best creatures.
An Atom's Weight of Good or Evil
Describes the final earthquake when the earth throws out its burdens and reports its news. People will be shown their deeds, and whoever does an atom's weight of good or evil will see it.
Man Is Ungrateful to His Lord
Swears by the panting racers charging at dawn that man is ungrateful to his Lord and loves wealth intensely. Reminds him that when graves are opened and hearts exposed, his Lord will know all about him.
The Striking Calamity and the Scales
Describes the Striking Calamity when people are like scattered moths and mountains like fluffed wool. Whoever's scales are heavy has a pleasant life, and whoever's are light falls into a blazing Fire.
Distracted by Competing for More
Warns that competing for worldly increase distracts people until they reach the graves. They will surely see Hellfire with certainty and be asked about the pleasures they enjoyed.
Woe to the Mocker Who Hoards Wealth
Warns every scorner and mocker who gathers wealth, counts it, and thinks it will make him live forever. He will be thrown into the Crusher, Allah's fire that rises over the hearts.
Small Kindnesses and Careless Prayer
Describes the one who denies the Judgment: he pushes away the orphan and does not urge feeding the poor. Warns those who are careless of prayer, show off, and refuse small help.
Abu Lahab and His Wife
Declares ruin for Abu Lahab, whose wealth and gains will not help him as he burns in a flaming Fire, along with his wife, the carrier of firewood with a rope of fiber around her neck.
